The History of Nostalgia in the 20th Century
The Romantic era was just one stream of nostalgia that fed into a global artistic expression. Nostalgia became a name for the pleasure and pain in the space between the certainty of the past and the uncertainty of what was to come. Even as nostalgia starts to be considered more of a mood or an emotion through the 20th century, you still have some who think that it is pathological and needs to be cured out of people.
