The Importance of Trent in TV and Movies

I like when I find it very vexing because it's either that the actor was like I don't want to have to think about someone else when I'm reading the script or they literally sat around and were like yeah that's right Jack is a great name for this Jack Nicholson character. Like even in Chinatown they moved to Jake. You know like it's it always bothers me when people do that. How do you feel about TV or movie characters being extended into another vehicle? I like it. Kind of used to it right now.
