Am, the mormon church has played a crucial role in manifest destiny and some of the far flung regions of the american empire through its missionary work. By 18 98, the church was officially two point three million in debt. To this day, the church is legally a corporation with tax exempt religious status. Or i should say, more specifically, it is a whole uge network of interlocked corporations, like silodoff, butno feeding into each other.
