Is Affordable Housing Really Affordable?
There's all this conversation about funding as well as who is actually going to be able to afford it. Which it often winds up not being because like we we have there's like loopholes a lot like in Portland right now. So, yeah, we have this fucking financial crash and home buying eventually slowly recovers after it, but building rates never do. They stay below normal after the crash. This continues for like, you know, more than a decade because the workers simply aren't there to buy houses. And that's just not due to zoning. It's the result of the home building industry tanking because a bunch of people who should be in prison sold and bundled up subprime loans.
