The History of the Caribbean
Over many decades, the caribbean played a sort of odd and unusual role in the spanish empire. In some ways, the cribbian was extremely convenient and useful because it was close to europe. It made for a convenient sort of way station and stopping point for co nation and conquest and control of america. But the fact that its population was small, it was always small in comparison to the great empires of mexico and peru, and it was further decimated. And this was not just an instant, one fell swoop destruction. It was a cycle of collapse and loss.
