Stinson beach is in the book, ok, so it would be an option from saucelito. You drop down to stinson beach, which is several miles long and very popular for fishing. A scenic drive, if you love driving, as i do, is a fabulous experience. The santa barbara mission still has monks there, and it is one of the most best preserved of the missions.
