The Fake Causality of Flogestan

Fogestan was the medieval alchemical equivalent of the Greek elemental fire. When you burn wood, it turns to ash because the hot orangy, burny stuff is flogestan leaving the wood. And if you started burning something in a sealed container, eventually it would stop burning because the air became saturated and couldn't hold anymore. The takeaway from this episode is like all the stuff we were taught elementary school about are really new discoveries in history of our species.
