Chris Thompson: Radio promises to unite humankind in the best possible way. In his own life I own a beautiful RCA wireless set replete with valves or tubes as you Americans say. And so we celebrate tonight in unison and in union with our fellow travelers worldwide who are listening even now via the new medium of radio.
