The Change in Malaysia

The rubber plantations have gone. They've been replaced by palm oil, which of course has nothing. Nothing grows in or around. The tin mines have been shut down. Old towns and cities have been built up. And I was just taken aback because I couldn't recognise any of it. It's not the place I knew. My father used to say, you must never go back. Because change is hardly ever for the better.
