I believe that we are, at our core, emotionally based creatures. The rational part of the soul is not just about optimise for sex and food,. But it has its own good, right? The joy of understanding. And there is a third part of theSoul that is spirit. This is what the greeks thought were after, clios, honor, glory. To understand why we've overlooked spirit is a fascinating topic in and of itself. I think it's called struggle for recognition, by axel honneth.
