The narrative is the larger claim on reality, and then our story is embodying through habit practice, attention and practices, how to live into that narrative. A lot of folks to day don't even think about the larger cultural narratives. The great challenge is that narratives are not neutral. We live in a time of narrative wars. There is contested space. There is clashing world views. And nobody has shown us how this works more than anybody else in het in history, to me, than edward barney's. In his book, philosophical investigations, ludwig wickenstein wrote about what happens when we follow rules or customs, but they lack the explanatory power to help us
