There are a lot of people who are using great expectations for things that I think you would think of not as technical data quality questions but more than your question implies. But just overall, when I look at the kind of new conversation around data contracts, I'm Chad Sanderson and others kind of pushing this thesis out.

One of the reasons that data work is so challenging is because no single person or team owns the entire process. This introduces friction in the process of collecting, processing, and using data. In order to reduce the potential for broken pipelines some teams have started to adopt the idea of data contracts.
