Is There a Breaking Point With Award Show Ratings?
The oscars are facing an existential moment. They had a meeting this past week end where they have vowed to fix the oscar ratings and to bring the show back to its prominent position. The thing they have going for them is, even in a depressed ratings environment, award shows deliver a better audience than typical for broadcast tv. And i do think that there will be a point when it is not economically viable to pay a lot of money to run these award shows.
