Mike Downey: David Byrne's How Music Works is a work of music criticism and theory that doesn't romanticize the subject even a little bit. He says if you're going to buy just one album from this period, then Absent Lovers might be a better choice than Discipline. The 80s version of King Crimson is sometimes dismissed as a Talking Heads clone or a Talking Heads ripoff. But Robert Fripp contributed guitar to attract on this album; Adrian Blue contributes lots of guitar to remain in light.
