Polagni's Depression

Polagni was hospitalized for two or three years, first in bodapest and then when he came to vienna. He suffered from the effects of typhus - it's something like malaria. The war affected polagni on many levels. It undermined his health. It brought his depression to a crisis. E would spend the rest of his life pondering what he called the automatism of a society which had pushed every one unwillingly into the abyss.
