Why Did the House of York Go to War?
In the nature of what's known as bars of feudalism at this time, you gravitated towards service within another nobleor more powerful noble's retinue. So effectively, if you aren't in the family yourself, you're in a faction which supports one or other of families. One of the most important reasons was the loss of france during the hundred years war,. henry fi, henry the sixth father, rather henry the fifth, had almost conquered france... But after his death, the french managed to claw back a lot of those victories. This caused understandable tensions back in england and some nobles favoured continuing the war while others wished to end it with a peace
