The aorta can be broken down, or divided up, into two key sections. And the thoracic aorta is the bit that lies above the diaphragm and the abdominal aorta are below it. So in the middle, clearly, as the luminof they ougter, that's where allof that lovely 200 million liters of blood is going to flow. But why do they occur? Well, i guess we need to understand the normal anatomy before we can kind of go into that.
