Lawrence peter's principle says that in most companies, employees will rise through the ranks until they reach their level of incompetence. Dilbert created a satire of it called the dilbert principle. He posited that people doing the best work are never put into management because they're going to always be at the ground floor actually being the productive ones. But i don't know if gilbert was joking or not, but i don't necessarily agree with his view as it relates to p Peter's principle.
