Cats use their voice boxes to communicate, but why do purrs sound so different from other animal sounds? i decided to keep on my search across the ocean to a professor named karen mccoom. Karen mostly studies how animals like elephants and lions communicate in the wild. But it was an animal in her own home who inspired her to look into cat purrs.
