As a new CEO, you should focus on the institution rather than yourself. You need to do that genuinely or the organization will sense right away if you're just asking the question but not really curious. A lot of new CEOs find it really helpful to put together an almost independent fact base of what is our starting point. Just because you've done something in the past doesn't mean you can't. Mary Barra is a great example of this. In her first budget cycle, they came to her again with the business case and the resourcing ask for a country that they'd been in for 25 years. They always just assumed they needed to be there. Here she was promoted from within CEO
