Alchemy and the New England Colony
He was an alchemical physician. He rejected the humoral theory of galen and that school of thought. And he explored and did chemical experiments himself, you know, tests on the make up and the transmutation of different minerals. And he organized new london to be a alchemical colony. That was the idea that colonists would go up the thames river, in this eastern end of connecticut, and would search for lead deposits.
