California might have the single worst record of all the 50 states for treating its indigenous population. The state of California didn't want them to have any land. When they tried to manage the land in the way that they had for thousands of years, they were arrested or shot and jailed. And so there's a place in California called happy camp, which is a largely indigenous settlement who got burned out this year.
