The January Barometer Is a Great Indicator for the Year Ahead
The Santa Claus rally and the January barometer were invented by my father, Yale Hirsch in 1972. The first five days indicator or early warning system as we call it in the Almanac has been around for a long time. And that periods up on average about 1.3% since 1950. But when you don't get that rally, it's not a great sign for the year ahead.
