i have come to believe that most problems in, at the theoretical level, in our politics stem from people screwing up these kinds of metaphorical understandings of our politics. I don't let strangers sleep on my couch, but i would if a friend or a relative e was in need,. But i don't let just some one off the street do it because they're different rules for the macrocosm and ore for the microcosm. That metaphor, or that way of thinking about things, i think is extremely useful.
