Is There a Level of Indirection in LHF?

Our LHF is primarily about trying to distill what human judgments might be like if you had a human in the loop. And I think there's a lot to like about this idea. It reminds me of approaches like generative adversarial learning, for example. That extends imitation learning by saying, well, okay, instead of just trying to directly imitate the reference policies that you have and then seeing that things break in reality. So our own HF as being a spiritual successor to this kind of thinking within preference based approaches to modeling.
