The first 36 Stuart relations alive in 1700 are all Catholic. In 1715, James Francis Edward Stuart attempts to attempt an invasion of Scotland. Charles Edward Stuart leads the most successful of the Jacobite uprisings. The defeat of that rebellion in 1745 marks the effective end of Jacobitism as a political force.
