How to Rent a Room in Manchester
Average UK monthly rent listed on spare room was just over £650 in January 2022. By January this year, it had risen to almost £750 a month. Spare room tells us demand is also increasing, but there are fewer properties being advertised. Moneybox's Star McFarland talks to someone who has been trying to find somewhere to live for the past 10 years after her growing up children flew the nest. Nathan says he can't get responses from people because of how expensive his bills have become. Annie claims she gets 240 applications for one room within an hour of it being listed - only six come back and say they'll be looking again soon.
