A Novel of a Woman's Life

Mulan was a force, basically. Folktale Mulan was a 360 degree fully formed character. She is not really set for this typical woman's life. In the very earliest poem, which again, like you said, is only 300 and some odd words, she's sitting there facing the door and weaving. And in at least one version, she soon outstripped the master so she could take Popod down.
