The No Longer New Media
New media is a funny term and it's been studied by a lot more people than I have an historicized. And for a long time like I've had this kind of, I don't know, curiosity about or problem with the strangeness i find myself when I'm reading cultural history. This includes media history as well, how histories of realism end up seeming kind of cyclical. But also like our fascination with our gadgets like hi fi high resolution, more megapixels dial up DSL cable broadband and now VRa so like this kind of like intense seeking of what media studies people call immediacy the kind of immediate connection to to the real.
