In only 15.9% of the journal articles on food scarcity in Syria did sanctions get mentioned in only 15.7% of the USA Today articles. In the times, it was only 9.1%. The Wall Street Journal had 282 articles that mentioned medicinal scarcity in one form or another. And that was only mentioning sanctions 21.6% of the time for the USA Today. It was 15.1% of thetime for the New York Times. So you have a large portion of the U.S. media audience that if they want to learn about what causes these types of crises...they'd have to go well beyond the mainstream news media.
