Three quarters of the tanks used in WWI broke down or never got to the front. They had no idea how to communicate between themselves and the infantry. If we'd sent a thousand tanks as they were on the 15th of September, 1916 over the top, it would have been a disaster. Britain has gone from the greatest creditor nation to one that is transferring their debt to New York now. The governments of all these countries are fundamentally transformed by 1918.
