The Importance of Avatars in the Digital Market
Gavin Benjamin is a mixed media artist with a keen eye for the stories we craft around luxury goods. His work takes the idea of collage to a whole new level, mixing old world and baroque imagery with contemporary pop culture and trends. I first encountered his work at a gallery at Nemecolon that was showing his heads of state collection. Some just portraits of black leaders that look both old and new at the same time. The pieces, though, they are physical works of art, reminded me of avatars.
