Joseph Campbell taught at Sarah Lawrence College for almost 40 years. George Lucas said if it hadn't been for him he would still be trying to write Star Wars. Thousands of letters poured into public television stations around the country. People continue to stop me in public to say simply Joseph Campbell changed my life. But exactly how and why he touched so many different lives I can't say.
