Virgil Griffith's Conviction
Virgil Griffith pleads guilty to conspiring to violate US sanctions. He is sentenced, in April 2022, to five years in prison and given a $100,000 fine. The FBI also presents evidence from inside the conference itself. They have audio recordings of Virgil giving his presentation at the conference. There were photos too. One shows Virgil drawing a diagram on a whiteboard which, persecute to say, shows how to use cryptocurrency as a means to evade sanctions. Next to the illustration, it's written, no sanctions, yay, and as a smiley face.
