Virus is a packages of DNA, which needs to be translated into functional proteins. If you look at viral DNA, it's the blueprint to make more viruses. All viruses are generally are packages of genetic information,. But they would infect a cell. And that could be human cells, animal cells, plant cells, but also bacteria. They can insert their genetic information. That virus is generally called a bacteria farge.
In this episode, Dr Matt and Dr Mike discuss how humans realised that bacteria could fight off viruses using sequences in their DNA called, CRISPR. Today, CRISPR technology is being used to cure cancer and investigate the cause of genetic disease.
