The Reluctance to Take John Seriously

In John 6, the narrator jumps in out of nowhere to give you a very special announcement. He writes you your Rek'lese catcher program and he just continues the narrative. I'm reminded of a tendency that was so prevalent in the 70s and 80s. When you approach John's gospel, you're approaching a book that is more Christological than biographical. It's too theological for us to take it seriously in terms of historiography.
