The Importance of Honesty in Science
It's still a waste of our time and as you mentioned in many cases now if we're doing a meta analysis we can just scrub the data and pull that from the articles. If we are trusting that the sources are good sources normal journals these articles just make their way into a meta analysis for example. I have had emails from clearly honest people from Iran from China who are trying to report to me because I've now identified as somebody who picks up on this stuff. It must be awful to be an honest scientist working in an environment where this stuff is happening at scale. Some people then say well we shouldn't talk about it because it will impair public trust in science but I have the opposite
