Stuff To Blow Your Mind
The Giant Squid in 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
Jules verne's treatment of the giant squid in 20 thousand leagues under the sea is hugely important. He makes something seem something sen scientific, into a rejuvenation of the old myths of the craken and other sea monsters. So we end up with a decidedly modern, empirical kind of dread,. A modern kind of anxiety that sotat we can name what these creatures are and still feel tha that oyiks, if i'v been into the sea, they'll definitely graphold f me and chop me in half with their giant beak. And again, there's a lot in the book. I encourage r listeners to pick up a copy and dive in themselves.
