Kepler was the telescope that was looking for planets by occlusion. TESS also, they basically look at stars and they watch for a little dip in light of the star. And if that dip in light is very regular, it could be because a planet is orbiting it. So our Milky Way galaxy has a couple hundred billion stars and probably trillions of planets.
