The Importance of Adaptive Immunity in Cold Blooded Animals
All vertebrates, including ectotherms, experience fever. Adaptive immunity is basically the millennial and situation exactly. Cold blooded animals can't regulate their own temperature. They're instead subject to the temperature of their environment. And so you infect these lizards, they move to a warmer environment, and they themselves get warmer. So that's nice and all, but it doesn't prove that it's giving them a benefit.
