ECMO in Adults With Critical Illness
The findings do not support use of an oxygen saturation target of 90 to 94% in the out-of-hospital setting after resuscitation from cardiac arrest. The pathophysiological sequelae of pulselessness and cardiopulmonary resuscitation may increase susceptibility to hypoxia and hyperoxia. ECMO is used as temporary cardiorespiratory support in critically ill patients, but little is known about long-term psychiatric sequelae among survivors after ECMO.
