Basketball is a sport that allows contact, but there are all kinds of instances where that contact is not allowed. The league needs to focus on preventing unintended consequences by maybe defining the spirit of some of these rules more clearly. It's antithetical to something like american football, where you're trying to plough into someone and push them as hard as you can. That's what creates this gray area of interpretation.
