There's really been a mindset change I think since when you grew up. The only place you see that old mindset is in the tech industry. Buy and hold, it's not a proven philosophy. It's just an observation. In the US, if you look back, you should have just continued to buy and hold. That doesn't mean that's the right thing to do now going forward.
