The group started out big. The plan was for two canoes with three or four people in each. But as they got closer to setting out, it whittled down until it was just Bruce, Ed, Vicki and another friend, Kathy. They'd be on the river several months with nothing but a 22 rifle, a shetty, canoe,. And everything they learned about the Amazon, just to say, not much. None of us had a clue about jungle survival or anything like that.
