The Mosquito Fleet in Puget Sound
As long as you were on the waterway, o you had a little pier that went out into the water, or you had a rowboat, you could row out and meet the mosquito fleet. That would allow you to live where you wanted, and, as i say, still stay connected. And then 19 then, with the rise of the automobile, we see the loss. The mosquito fleet dies, washington state takes over in 19 50. It really hit home that this body of water, an idea of the maritime highway, is both very utilitarian, but also very spiritual.
