The Differences Between Jack and Pipe Wire

Pipe wire seems to be this new Linux audio solution. And I think that my problem is that I don't fundamentally understand the architecture of Linux audio. From what I can tell now after trying a few different combinations, also advanced Linux something audio seems to be at the heart of Linux audio and then things live on top of it. It's not like a yes, it always works this way kind of answer.
