Is There a War Crime?
I think one reason we did not, I think, make any serious attempt at pre war diplomacy that would have prevented the invasion is because of our simplistic Cold War mindset. The rules for what constitutes a crime are symmetric once you're in a war and Russia isn't supposed to do the same things Ukraine does. And it's important to understand what both sides do wrong.
