Joyce was a professional in mythological thinking fi from infancy, and had mind comes gradually into it. And this makes the two of them extraordinarily interesting. Pair two two bring together. Thomas man's magic mountain is a work in which man is continually explaining the implication of his mythology. He gives you the image, and then there isa interpret it's given you one way or another. Joyce does nothing of the kind. But i have always found, in my own reading it and thinking about these matters, that these two men supplement each other in an extraordinarily interesting way.
