The Latest RBA Forecasts on the Cash Rate in Australia

Consumer price index reading for September has landed at 8.2%, marking a slight easing in the annual rate of inflation from 8.3%. Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices rose to a 40-year annual high of 6.6% In monthly terms, core inflation rose by 0.6 versus consensus forecast of a smaller gain of 0.4. This is why the Fed will hike rates of further 70-by basis points when policymakers next meet this month. On GDP and productivity, looking at the consumer story in the US, we saw consumer confidence tumbled to a three-month low in October on the back of widespread inflation.
