The Intention of the Backdoor

The researchers call the vulnerability a backdoor. If anybody who is aware of this vulnerability, let's say, can do what exactly? They can, as far as I understand it, listen to communications. "I wouldn't necessarily bank on them having the technical sophistication to do this," says John Defterios.
